SCHOOL start times:

8:35- 4th grade
8:25 - 5th and 6th

Emergency Response Plan
Updated plan will be shared soon.
As the standards and curriculum becomes more rigorous, and because we want each
child to receive the best education possible, it is vital that the students are in school
ready to learn. Tips for making that happen include having your child:
1) Eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school
2) In bed at a reasonable time each evening
3) Develop a routine for doing homework, reading, and prepare materials for returning
to school.
4)Share with you, papers that need to be read and/or signed and returned to school to
keep open the lines of communication between home and school.
To make the most of the school year, please make every attempt to have your child
present. School begins at 8:40 and we want every child in their classroom and
prepared to learn at that time. If your child is running a fever or has an
appointment, their absence is understandable. Please attempt to make appointments
for early in the morning or later in the afternoon. We encourage families to use the
vacation days included in the school calendar to avoid having your child miss days of
direct teacher instruction. Our teachers strive to provide hands-on, student-engaging
lessons revolving around group discussion and activities that when ‘made up’ do not
provide your child with the same benefit.
Please visit about issues as soon as they arise. That helps those involved deal with the facts and
allows for a speedy resolution.
Communication between parents and teacher is vital to the education of your child. Teachers will communicate through notes, newsletters, email, webpages and blogs. Please make a point to use these tools to communicate with teachers and stay informed.
Rumors and hearsay are inevitable. If you hear something about Richland Elementary that sounds unlikely, please give me a call. I will be happy to dispel rumors and/or explain the situation without breaching confidentiality.
The elementary school webpage will be kept current. Please check that site for information, changes and updates.
The door to my office is always open. Feel free to stop in anytime.
