Dear Richland #44 School Community,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the incoming principal of Richland Elementary School. It is an honor to become a part of your school family and I look forward to meeting each one of you and working together to meet the needs of all of our children.
I grew up on a farm in the small town of Medina, which is about 75 miles east of Bismarck. Growing up on a dairy farm, I milked cows every day and experienced the hard work of picking rocks, granted I may have picked more rocks for my collection than for farming purposes. While in high school, I was active in FFA, Cheerleading, Student Council, and Band/Choir.
In 2006, I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and in 2018 I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University. I come to you with 13 years of experience as an educator working with children ranging from Kindergarten through eighth grade.
My career began in the community of Carson, ND where I taught in a combined classroom setting and learned how to differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of needs within one classroom. I moved to Bismarck in 2008 and taught multiple grade levels, with most years spent in a third-grade classroom. For the past five years, I have served as an Instructional Coach for the Bismarck Public School system coaching both academic and social/emotional learning.
I have two daughters, Libbie and Haddie, who are currently in first and third grade. Both girls love music, making slime, animals, and spending time outside. During our free time, we enjoy doing art projects, reading, visiting family, and traveling. We are looking forward to beginning this new adventure at Richland Elementary!
This summer, I will work closely with the administrative team to ensure a smooth transition into the 2019 – 20 school year. I believe every child deserves a quality education and a key component of ensuring this happens is the partnership between the school and community.
I look forward to meeting each one of you and becoming a part of your community. I will be in the elementary building on and off in June and July and on a full-time basis beginning the first part of August. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected].
Wishing you well,
Elicia Hofmann
